I am a proud Gamilaroi Murri ( man ) from western NSW. I have been an Executive in the NSW Out of Home Sector for the past 20 years. I am the CEO of Abcare and have worked in Senior positions at Abcare for the last 10 years. I was previously the Chairperson of the NSW Aboriginal Leadership Group who monitors the progress of the DCJ transition project and reports regularly to the NSW Minister for Families and Communities, Minister for Disabilities Inclusion Ms Kate Washington. Abcare is a fully Accredited Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation ( ACCO) and works across four unique Aboriginal Communities being the Gumbaynggirr ( Coffs Harbour), Bundjalung ( Grafton), Yaegl (Yamba, Maclean) and Gamilaroi/Gomeroi ( Moree). As the Abcare CEO I am responsible for the delivery of many programs including Aboriginal Out of Home Care, Family Preservation, Restoration, Kids on Country, Cultural Mentoring, Youth on Track, Elders Support , Healing Centre, and the Abcare Foundation. I am passionate about self-determination and building capacity within our communities, so our voice can resolve our challenges whilst being true to our culture and our beliefs.
